When Dave Toland retired after 36 years working for General Electric, you’d think he’d want to kick his feet up for a while. But Dave needed to stay active and decided to fill a few hours of each day safely crossing our students across Shadeland Avenue and Garrett Road, a busy intersection in Drexel Hill. It isn’t an easy job. Dave deals with inclement weather and aggressive drivers, but the district has relied on him to get our children to and from school safely since 2005!
Dave has made many connections in the community over his 12 years at the corner of Shadeland and Garrett, and he’s enjoyed his daily interactions with the children. The kids especially enjoy seeing Dave during the holidays – when he’s dressed up to celebrate each holiday season!
