The Opportunity Center
The Opportunity Center School is an intense, 4 1/2 hour daily program, which focuses on an academic curriculum based on state and national standards for middle and high school students (grades 7 through 12) while also providing a strong guidance component.
The Opportunity Center's mission is to help facilitate students to make proactive changes within themselves, to become positive community members and leaders, and to obtain necessary life skills. The Opportunity Center provides educational resources and supports necessary to obtain a high school diploma. We believe every student is an individual and able to learn and succeed in life despite its daily challenges.
The Opportunity Center houses three classrooms (maximum class size of fifteen students). A lead teacher, mentoring teachers for each classroom, a permanent building substitute, shared classroom assistants, a social worker and a guidance counselor work together to ensure student success.
The underlying objective is to provide these students with the skills that are needed to make positive changes in their behavior, attitude and academic progress. The school hours of operation are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm daily, with two sessions daily to accommodate the needs of its students.
