Matthew Casertano began his educational career in the Upper Darby School District as a special education teacher at Senkow Elementary School. Mr. Casertano spent eight years teaching within the district as a first, third, fourth, and fifth-grade teacher at both Senkow Elementary and Primos Elementary.
Mr. Casertano served three years as lead teacher while he completed a Master's degree with principal certification and an autism endorsement from Neumann University before accepting his first assistant principal position in 2022.
His educational experiences have afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being.
His educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family. All of which the Upper Darby School District possesses. At the core of his beliefs, he lives by the principle that the students are at the center of all school-related decisions.
Mr. Casertano enjoys spending time with his wife Tara, a middle school guidance counselor, and their three children, Matthew, Gabriella, and Luca.
