A child who reads 20 minutes per day is exposed to 1.8 million words per year and scores in the 90th percentile on standardized tests!
1st period: Students have started working on Book 2. They are learning about welded sounds that end with eithe -nk or -ng.
2nd period: Students are working with words that have more than two closed syllables and words that end in suffix ed or ing. (3.4/3.5)
3rd period: Students will read and spel multi-syllable words with at least on v-e syllable (4.3). They will start the final substep in Book 4 next week which is about the vowel consonant e exception-ive and words that end with nce. (4.4)
5th period: Students have finished book 9 and will review double vowels before taking the end of the book test.
Hillcrest: Students are working with words containing short vowel sounds, bonus letters, and welded sound (all) (1.4). Next week they will begin working on words with welded sounds an or am (1.5).
Bywood: Students are working with short a, i, u, e, or o words (1.2). They will also work with words with sh and ck.
Stonehurst Hills: Students are working with words containing short vowel sounds, bonus letters, and welded sound (all) (1.4).
