Mrs. Lisa Jesse

Hello Garrettford Families! My name is Lisa Jesse and I'm so excited to join Garrettford this year as a Reading Specialist. Prior to coming to Garrettford I have been an elementary classroom teacher, a special education teacher, and a reading specialist in a Delaware public school district. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Delaware in 2001, and my Master's of Education in Literacy from Wilmington University in 2005. I love working with children to help them become independent readers who love to read.

At home, I love spending time with my husband and our 3 awesome kids, Bethany (8th grade), Dylan (4th grade), and Josh (preschool). When we aren't at Bethany's dance performances or Dylan's ice hockey games, we love biking, baking, watching movies, reading, and going down the shore in the summer to beach, boat, fish and crab. My family loves, loves, loves animals, especially dogs. We have a 14 year old dachshund (the hotdog dog), named Sammy. This summer we sadly said goodbye to our beloved chocolate lab, Skylar, who was our best friend for 17 1/2 years. We recently adopted Luna, a siberian husky and blue heeler mix puppy, who has brought us so much joy...and lots of potty accidents. Puppy training is a lot of work!

I'm looking forward to getting to know the Garrettford community and all the wonderful students and families I'll have the opportunity to work with this year.
