Department Overview
Studies done by The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveal that the school bus is the safest vehicle on the road. The Upper Darby School District transportation department owns and maintains a fleet of 120 school buses and school vehicles to transport approximately 5,000 students to over 160 schools in 5 counties. When fully staffed, the department employs 85 bus drivers and 45 bus assistants. Our mission is to provide safe and reliable transportation services in a fiscally responsible manner.
Bus schedules are designed by the transportation office during the summer. As student ridership changes throughout the school year, bus schedules are modified and adjusted in order to maintain an efficient transportation system. All bus routes are subject to change to meet the needs of all our student riders.
