Mrs. Barbara Blithe
I have been married for 37 years and have raised 4 sons (Nate-34, Dan-32, Ray-32, & Brad-30), who went through Bywood, Beverly Hills, & Upper Darby High School. I started teaching when my youngest son entered Beverly Hills for the 6th grade in 2002. They were all involved in sports (Soccer & Baseball) and the Music Departments (Marching Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Chorelations and Boys Ensemble, & Concert Choir) throughout their years in B.H. and U.D.H.S. I currently have 2 grandsons (Aiden-8 & RJ-3) and 1 granddaughter (Lillian-3) who is the only girl born into our family for the last 50 years.
I got my bachelors degree in Elementary Education specializing in English (a long time ago) and my Master's degree in Reading in 2015. I love puzzles of every kind except sudoku both physically and virtually.
I direct the annual Musical along with the assistance of Ms. Kay and have been doing this since my first year of teaching when I played the role of the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz. It is open to 6th, 7th, & 8th graders who are in good standing in their grades and behaviors. I work with Dr. Blessington with the Band and Orchstraand have since I started working at B.H.
I collect Owls and Carebears which are on display in my classroom. These both fill a role in my classroom as Owls are wise and open to always learning more, and Carebears all have different symbols espousing friendship, loyalty, trust, love, bravery, etc . . . characteristics which I hope to instill in my students.
