    We do not have school on Monday, 2/17, in honor of Presidents' Day. We will take our next Math test on Wednesday. Please make sure your child is doing their best to memorize their multiplication facts. Our next two chapters in Math will focus on fractions. 

    We are on our last week for Module 6 in ELA. We will have our next Reading assessment in the middle of next week. 

    Students have 3 assignments to complete for homework during the week. These include reading, math, and spelling. Please make sure your child is completing their homework and returning it to school.

    We do not have school on Friday, 2/14. It is a district inservice day. We also do not have school on Monday, 2/17 in honor of Presidents' Day.

    We will have a Valentine's party on Thursday, 2/13. Your child may bring in cards or treats for each student in our class.

    We will finish up our chapter in division early next week. We will have our test at the end of next week.

  • Hello Families of Room 13,

    Please remember to bring in canned goods by Friday, 1/31 for the 100th day of school. If we collect 100 cans, students and faculty can wear pajamas to school on Monday, 2/3.

    Friday, January 31, is Purple and Gold Day for the entire district. Wear your spirit day colors to school!

    We will begin our next chapter in division. Please make sure your child continues to study their multiplication facts. This is will help with solving division equations.

    We will take our next Reading module assessment this week. Please make sure your child is reading for at least 10 to 15 minutes every night. I do have books that they can borrow to read.

  • Hello Families of Room 13,

    This is our last week before Winter Break. We have a busy week at Charles Kelly. On Monday and Tuesday, we will take our Reading Module 4 assessment. 

    On Tuesday, 12/17, the Walnut Street Theater will put on a performance for our school. On Wednesday morning, 12/18, our students will attend the Winter Concert. The evening's concert will be held at Beverly Hills Middle School. Good luck to all our string participants!

    Our last day of school is Friday, 12/20. It is a full day. Students and staff return on Thursday, 1/2.

    Wednesday, 11/20 is Parent Visitation Day. A form was sent home last week in your child's Wednesday folder. Students can wear pajamas to school. We will have visitors who will read a book to our class. 

    We are continuing multiplication in Math. Your child should have a multiplication chart stapled to their homework planner. Make sure they are studying their facts for about 10 minutes each night. 

    Conferences will be held on Monday, 11/25 and Tuesday, 11/26. Forms were sent home on Wednesday, 11/6 and 11/13. Time slots are limited so please return the form if you haven't done so already. Students will have early dismissal on these days.

    Please make sure your child is coming to school with a heavy coat, gloves, and hats when necessary. Students will be going out for recess during the cold weather.

    Conference letters went home in your child's Wednesday folder last week. Please choose 3 times that work best for you. Please return them at your earliest convenience so that you can get the times you requested.

    We will take our next Reading and Writing test later this week. We began our next chapter in multiplication. We will learn how to multiply by certain factors and learn distributive and associative property. I will staple a multiplication chart in your child's homework planner. They should study their facts for about 10 minutes each night.

    Progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday, 11/13. You may keep the progress report. The yellow envelope must be signed and returned. We will discuss your child's progress during conferences.

  • Dear Families of Room 13,

    We will start multiplication this week! The students will learn several strategies to solve multiplication problems. I will attach multiplication facts to their homework planners so they can begin to study them.

    Please make sure your child is completing their homework. On Mondays, they receive a small packet with their spelling words and a reading log. They should be studying their words and reading every night for at least 10-15 minutes. They also have one math page to complete each night.

    Our Fall Festival Parade will be held on Wednesday, 10/30 at 2 pm. Students should not wear their costumes to school. They can bring their costumes in a bag. They will get changed after lunch. Please send in a note, email or call me if you do not want your child participating in the parade.

  • Dear Families of Room 13,

    We began a new chapter in Math at the end of last week. We are learning how to collect, organize, and analyze data through graphs and tables. 

    Your child should be completing their homework at home. Please check their homework planner to see what their assignments are each night. School reminders are also included. 

    I have plenty of fiction and nonfiction readers that your child may use for their homework reading logs if you do not have books at home. They can borrow them and return them on Fridays.

    Sumdog login information was sent home last week. I taped their login information to the front of their homework planner. 

    Schools will be closed on Monday, 10/14 for Columbus Day.

    Dear Families of Room 13,

    Starting this week, homework will  be completed at home. Homework will be a reading log, study spelling words, and one page of their math practice book. Students should read at least 15 minutes every night.

    Wednesday, 10/2, is an early dismissal. Lunches will be served in the classrooms. 

    Friday is Spirit Day! Remember to wear purple or gold/yellow! Our class had the highest percentage for Spirit Day for September. They enjoyed an extra recess at the end of the day on Friday.

    We will be taking our first chapter test in Math at the end of this week. The students will be tested in addtion and subtraction with regrouping, rounding to the nearest tens and hundreds, and problem solving. Please make sure your child is studying their addition and subtraction facts each night.

    Our class will continue to practice the rules and routines of our classroom this week.

    We do have any early dismissal on Wednesday, 9/11. Dismissal is at 12:30. Students will eat lunch in the classroom.

    Picture Day is on Monday, 9/16. Picture forms were sent home last Wednesday. You may choose to pay online or you may send a payment along with the picture form with your child on picture day.

    Students will complete homework in school for the remainder of September. They will bring their homework home so that you can see what we are learning. The students are responsible for studying their speling words each night. The students will receive a homework sheet every Monday that will have their spelling words, vocab words, and reading skills that we will learn in ELA that week.

    Students do not have school on Tuesday, November 7th. We will begin lesson 9 in Storytown. 

    We will continue to learn how to multiply by two-digit numbers in Math. Our chapter 3 test will be given next week. 

    Conference slips were sent home last week. Please pick 3 times that work best for you. I will try to accommodate those times as best I can so please make sure they are returned as soon as possible. Conferences will be held the week of 11/20.

    Comprehension Night is scheduled for Wednesday, 11/15. Invitations were sent home last week. Please join us for dinner and to learn how to increase your child's comprehension skills.

   Dear Parents and Guardians,

 

            Welcome to Room 13! I hope you and your family had a relaxing and fun-filled summer! My name is Nancy Iori and I will be your child’s third grade teacher. This is my twelfth year at Charles Kelly. Over the past twelve years, I taught second, third, and fourth grades. I am so excited to be working with you and your child this year! I am proud to be part of a wonderful team and school community. We have lots to learn in third grade! I am looking forward to sharing effective learning strategies with you and your child!

 

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  1. Please have your child’s supplies by Tuesday, September 3rd. You may write your child’s name on all supplies.
  2. Please make sure to check your child’s Wednesday folder every week.
  3. It is important that you send a note for your child if they are late, absent, have an early dismissal, or if their pick-up arrangement has changed for that day. * You may send an email directly to ckes-attendance@upperdarbysd.org to submit your child’s absence.
  4. Please make sure that your child’s homework planner is signed each night. You may write notes in the planner for me whenever necessary.
