  • Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Fifth Grade!  I am looking forward to a great school year here at Walter M. Senkow Elementary.  This year marks my 18th year of teaching.  I couldn’t be happier to spend my year with your amazing children.

    Attendance

It is so very important that your child is in school on time and every day.  We move quickly through our material and even a missed morning or afternoon can be detrimental to your child’s education. With that said, please know that if your child is sick, they need to stay home to prevent the spread of their illness to others.  When taking a sick day please make sure to call the school AND send a written excuse note when returning to school.  After a 3 day absence, you will need to provide a doctor’s note.

    Homework

According to the District policy 60 minutes of homework is requird for fifth grade students four nights a week. Your child will be given spelling, math, science or social studies review, and a reading requirement each night. Students will be provided with a planner to write down their homework. This is a great resource for parents to help your child plan and complete their work. Homework is given to reinforce and practice skills that have been taught in class. Your child is expected to give their best effort. I will check and review homework each morning.
