To First Grade!!!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to First Grade!!!
It is going to be a great year filled with learning, playing, and growing. My goal is to get your children excited about school and to motivate them to do their best. We will sing, play games, make charts and graphs, use logic and mathematics, talk, read, write…and so much more!
Home/School Connection: I am always available to answer your questions and/or to address your concerns. Contact me via the school office at (610) 626-9111 and leave a message, or email me at kwolfe@upperdarby sd.org. Due to our busy school day, one of the most efficient ways to contact me would be by sending in a note with your child. Please remind him or her to hand in any notes as soon as they unpack their school bag. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Supplies: LABEL EVERYTHING!
Hopefully you have received a supply list in the mail. If you have not received a supply list there are copies available in the main office.
Unfortunately, the school will not be able to provide these supplies so please check with your child from time to time about what they need and replenish supplies when necessary. Also, please make sure your child has two sharpened pencils each morning.
This school year we will be on a four day schedule. This will affect the days the days the students have their special area subjects. The schedule is as follows:
- Day 1- Gym (sneakers must be worn)
- Day 2- Library
- Day 3- Art
- Day 4- Music
You will receive a form that you may fill out to see if your child qualifies for free or reduced price lunch/breakfast. You must either pack your child a lunch or send with him/her $2.20 each day until you receive a paper back saying that you qualify. I do ask that you send any lunch money in a sealed envelope with your child’s full name and total amount of money enclosed. Another option would be to put money in your child’s lunch account. In the past, this has seemed to be the best option for first graders. Please make sure to pack a healthy snack for your child everyday. This is important because the students will be having a late lunch and eating a snack tends to refuel their bodies and minds. Breakfast is also served daily in our classroom.
The children will have homework, Monday through Thursday. Assignments for the week will come home on Mondays in the Homework Folder. All homework should be placed in the Homework Folder and returned on Fridays.
