Hello! My name is Jennifer Teger.  I am so excited for another year in 5th grade at Westbrook Park! Just to tell you a little bit about myself as we get this year started! I grew up in Bucks County and went to Penn State University. I graduated in 2011 and jumped right into teaching.  I have always known I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I enjoy cooking, hiking, listening to music, and going to the beach.  This summer I went to Utah and Colorado! It was amazing.  This year I will be continuing my education at Holy Family University to get my Masters in Education.

I am looking forward to an amazing year with your children!

Parents I need You! Part of your child being so successful during this school year is parent involvement.

parent I will be sending home weekly news letters on Monday to let you know what we are doing that week in all subject areas, upcoming events, current spelling and vocabulary words, and any important information you will need.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to write me a note or send me an email.  Email works best.  jteger@upperdarbysd.org

I want to thank you in advance for your continued support and cooperation!

Welcome to Room 15! Miss Teger's Room

  • Welcome to 5th Grade

The best way to get in contact with me is to email me jteger@upperdarbysd.org

We took the test for chapter 5 on Friday.  On Wednesday we will begin Chapter 6, adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.

In ELA we are working on Lesson 18.  We are focusing on main idea and details.  We will have the opportunity to focus on adjectives and articles for grammar.  We are about half way through this theme, which means a theme test will be coming up!

We are wrapping up Social Studies and will be moving into our next science unit.  We will be talking about ecosystems and getting the opportunity to build our own terrarrium and aquarium.

Report cards will go out next week on Thursday, January 31st.  We do not hold conferences again until the spring, if you have any question or concerns you can email me a time to discuss.

As a reminder, please send in the 5th grade $20 activity fee.  Please send the money in as soon as possible.  This money helps us go on various field trips and have fun activities at the end of the year for fifth grade.  Any problems, please contact me via email and we can work something out : )

This year I will be using the RED FOLDER as a communication tool between school and home.  Please be on the lookout throughout the year as important information that needs to either be left at home or brought back to school will be included inside.

Just as a quick reminder, each week I will be sending home an email copy and uploading a copy of a weekly newsletter to let you know what our week will look like.  Please be on the lookout.

  • HOMEWORK

In fifth grade, we will have homework daily.  Homework is a great opportunity for your child to practice the skills we worked on in school.

If your child is struggling with homework, please send me an email or a note.

Homework is posted daily in the classroom and your child will be responsible for writing it in their planner.

Below is the weekly homework for spelling for your child.  Monday-Wednesday students will pick a different activity and complete using this week's spelling words.  Thursday is review night and Friday we will have a spelling test.

    Homework

    Vocabulary Homework:

Each week your child will get a new set of vocabulary words.  Monday and Tuesday night students will split the list and copy the definitions in class.   Wednesday, students will use the vocabulary words in sentences.

    Math Homework:

Students will be completing a page or certain problems in their homework practice book.  The practice book page will correspond to the lesson from the class that day.
