    Hello! My name is Jennifer Teger.  I am so excited for another year in 5th grade at Westbrook Park! Just to tell you a little bit about myself as we get this year started! I grew up in Bucks County and went to Penn State University. I graduated in 2011 and jumped right into teaching.  I have always known I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I enjoy cooking, hiking, listening to music, and going to the beach.  This summer I went to Utah and Colorado! It was amazing.  This year I will be continuing my education at Holy Family University to get my Masters in Education.  

    I am looking forward to an amazing year with your children!


    Parents I need You! Part of your child being so successful during this school year is parent involvement.

    parent I will be sending home weekly news letters on Monday to let you know what we are doing that week in all subject areas, upcoming events, current spelling and vocabulary words, and any important information you will need.

    Permission slips and information regarding the end of the year field trip to Philadelphia was sent home.  By March 29th, we need permission slips and $40 in order to secure our spot.  The field trip will by May 20th.  If you are interested in chaperoning it is first come first serve and necessary clearances are required per the district to be a chaperone.  Please email if you have any questions or concerns about the trip.  

    Last week we took the chapter 7 math test.  Those tests will go home on Tuesday to be signed and returned.  We are halfway through chapter 8, we will be taking the chapter test on Friday.   

    In ELA we will be starting lesson 23.  There will be new spelling words this week for homework.  We will be focusing on literary devices as well as answering comprehension questions.  We have been working on figurative language as well and made awesome onomatopoeia word pop art!

    This week we are reviewing past social studies concepts to help us begin a new chapter declaring independence in social studies.  These last chapters will prepare us for the end of the year field trip to Philadelphia.

    Running club information was sent home. In order to participate in running club a signed and completed physical form is due by March 29th.  More information regarding running club can be found on the running club tab of my website.    


    This year I will be using the RED FOLDER as a communication tool between school and home.  Please be on the lookout throughout the year as important information that needs to either be left at home or brought back to school will be included inside.   


    Just as a quick reminder, each week I will be sending home an email copy and uploading a copy of a weekly newsletter to let you know what our week will look like.  Please be on the lookout.  



    In fifth grade, we will have homework daily.  Homework is a great opportunity for your child to practice the skills we worked on in school.

    If your child is struggling with homework, please send me an email or a note.  


    Homework is posted daily in the classroom and your child will be responsible for writing it in their planner.   


    Below is the weekly homework for spelling for your child.  Monday-Wednesday students will pick a different activity and complete using this week's spelling words.  Thursday is review night and Friday we will have a spelling test.



    Vocabulary Homework:

    Each week your child will get a new set of vocabulary words.  Monday and Tuesday night students will split the list and copy the definitions in class.   Wednesday, students will use the vocabulary words in sentences.  


    Math Homework:

    Students will be completing a page or certain problems in their homework practice book.  The practice book page will correspond to the lesson from the class that day.
