UDHS Real World Design Challenge Team - 2nd Place!
Congratulations to Upper Darby HS seniors John Rybnik, Ling An Zheng, Vince Tran, and Eric Thai for winning second place in the state in the Real World Design Challenge for the third year in a row!
The students were tasked with designing a system of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or drones, to survey patches of vegetation in a hypothetical city. In addition to the traditional multispectral cameras used to assess plant health, the UDHS design incorporated Lidar cameras to assess volumetric growth of the vegetation and avoid possible obstacles in the air. The students are grateful for the help of NASA engineer, Geoff Bland, for his guidance on this project.
