Assistant Principal's Biography
-
Aaron Smith
8th Grade Assistant Principal
(610) 626-9317
Mr. Smith is thrilled to spend another year as a part of the Beverly Hills Middle School Family. GO ROYALS. This year marks his 16th year in the field of education and he couldn't be happier to be working in this field. Last year was his first year in the Upper Darby School District, serving as the overseeing administrator for 7th Grade. This year, he moved up with his students to 8th Grade and will now be helping to prepare them for their last year of middle school and mentally preparing them for life in high school.
Prior to Mr. Smith joining the Upper Darby School District, he worked as a Middle School Assistant Principal in a charter school located in South Philadelphia. Prior to that, he worked as a Contracted Math Instructional Coach for two schools in the Philadelphia area and as a classroom teacher at both the middle and elementary school levels, teaching for 10 years.
Mr. Smith has been a resident of Upper Darby Township going on 11 years now (one year for each year of his son's life) and has enjoyed finally getting a chance to work in the same community area in which he lives. Mr. Smith is a father of two wonderful students who too are UDSD students and is a husband of a Doctor of Education. He is also a proud HBCU Alum with a Bachelor's degree, coming from Delaware State University Hornets. He received his Master’s degree at Concordia University. During his free time, he likes to play basketball, video games, and "yelling" at the TV screen like all other Philadelphia team sports fans.
Lastly, as a person who has used education as a tool for him to be where he is in life right now, he is deeply passionate about helping today's youth utilize their education to explore whatever avenues and dreams they have for themselves. "Through education, anything is possible," states Mr. Smith, "As an African American, I believe that it was education and imagination that brought us this far and that it will be education and imagination that will continue to take us farther."
