Charles Kelly Elementary School strives to create a safe, orderly, and stimulating learning community for all of our students. In an effort to continue to improve our school climate, the faculty at Charles Kelly, have worked together to form a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Program. The focus of this plan is to create a positive school community that fosters being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.
The students will be learning about PBIS at a school wide assembly on the first day of school. The plan has been created and will be implemented to promote the “3 B’s of Charles Kelly: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe” for all students and the entire Charles Kelly Community.
In addition to our kick-off assembly, we will display posters around the building and in the classroom. All of the staff at Charles Kelly will be teaching students the positive behaviors that they are expected to demonstrate at school. We will acknowledge and reward classes who consistently demonstrate positive behaviors with "Royal Classroom Rewards" and individual students with “Royal Rewards".
Please take some time to review with your child the positive behavior expectations described on the Behavior Matrix found on our Charles Kelly Website (Hard copies available upon request), as well as the Charles Kelly PBIS Flowchart and Pyramid. Ask your child to make sure he/she understands the expectations in different locations around school and on the bus. Please discuss the importance of these concepts and encourage your child to be a respectful, responsible, and safe Charles Kelly Scholar.
With our continued support and involvement, there is no question that Charles Kelly Elementary will continue to be a place where students can excel in a safe and stimulating environment. Research shows that when home and school work together, student achievement is guaranteed. We look forward to working with you as true partners in your child’s education.
