Assistant Principal's Biography

  • Janet Newby has been in education for the past seventeen years. She received her Associate’s Degree at Delaware County Community College, her undergraduate degree at Millersville University, her Masters in Education at Cabrini University, and her Principal K-12 certificate at Gwynedd Mercy University. She has specifically been teaching at Bywood Elementary in Pennsylvania for seventeen years.

     

    She has taught fourth grade for most of her teaching career, fifth grade for one year, and lead teacher for two years before becoming the Assistant Principal. The 2023-2024 school year will be Janet’s second year as Assistant Principal at Bywood Elementary School. 

     

    Janet’s passion for teaching stems from a family of educators and having inspiring educators growing up. Janet not only continues to help students learn and grow to become successful students she helps to support the teachers as well. Janet serves as a behavioral and instructional leader.

     

    She models academic and behavioral lessons directly in the classrooms and follows up with support to teachers to see positive changes in the culture of their classrooms. She wants students to feel safe, successful and heard.

     

    Family is essential to Janet as she comes from a very large family with four brothers. She has two daughters of her own and a supportive and loving husband who supports her in her career path.
