The school nurse within the school identifies the major health problems experienced by children, by reviewing health information from medical records, conducting health screenings, and making referrals when necessary. The School Nurse administers medications and treatments and provides first aid while supporting students to acquire self-management skills. Decision-making about health and immunization against preventable diseases are also the function of the school nurse.
