Joseph Niagara is a proud graduate of Upper Darby High School Class of 2008. After receiving a degree in English Education from Swarthmore College, he returned to Upper Darby High School as a member of the English Department. Mr. Niagara was lucky enough to serve as the AP English Language and Composition teacher. He also taught American Literature and Humanities. From 2014-2022, Mr. Niagara served as the head coach of the Upper Darby Boys’ Lacrosse team, a program that provided him great opportunities as a player, coach, and educator.
Mr. Niagara completed an M.S.Ed. in School Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. He transitioned into his current position as Assistant Principal for the Class of 2024 last year. Mr. Niagara believes that all students are worthwhile people. He aims to work with the school community to create a rigorous and supportive learning environment. He is excited to be graduating his first class of seniors on June 11, 2024.
At home, Mr. Niagara enjoys spending time with his wife, Carmen, and his daughter, Delaney. His free time is occupied with cooking, reading, and going for walks.
