James Finch is an experienced educational administrator with a focus on student services and instructional support. Guided by the motto of “Opportunity, Unity, Excellence” and dedicated to collaboration, student-centered approaches, and data informed decision making, Mr. Finch works closely with administrators, teachers, students, and the community to achieve collective goals within the district.
Mr. Finch started his educational career as a math teacher before transitioning into administration as the Assistant Principal of Operations at Upper Darby High School. As an Assistant Principal, one of Mr. Finch’s responsibilities were developing the master schedule. Mr. Finch received a Certificate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s of Science in Applied Statistics from West Chester University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics Education from West Chester University.
In his current role, Mr. Finch oversees Upper Darby School District’s comprehensive counseling programs, where he leverages data to drive student success and ensure alignment with district objectives. Through prioritizing collaboration and communication, Mr. Finch ensures that every student has the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. He lives in West Chester with his wife, who is also an educator, and two children.
