Wendy Elgart is the Director of Federal Programs, Grants, Food Service and the Deputy Title IX Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, a Masters degree in Counseling from Villanova University, and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from St. Joseph’s University.
As of 2023, Mrs. Elgart was in her 30th year in the Upper Darby School District. She began her career as a school counselor at Upper Darby High School in 1994, then became Assistant Principal at the high school in 1999. In 2003, she became Principal of Primos Elementary School. In 2008, she moved into central administration, and has taken on various leadership positions throughout those 16 years.Mrs. Elgart's current responsibilities include overseeing the almost $8 million dollars that the district receives in Title funds, applying for all state and federal grants, overseeing the food service program, and investigating discrimination cases as the Deputy Title IX coordinator. She loves that her responsibilities, although varied, all focus on helping our students and families in different ways.
Mrs. Elgart was recognized by the Board of School Directors with the Service to Children Award in 2021. That same year, the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators recognized her with the Federal Programs Coordinator Award for the state of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Elgart's entire career has been with the Upper Darby School District, and she remains dedicated to its mission.
