Dorothy Germain Porter

Dorothy “Dot” Germain Porter began playing golf at age 11. She graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1942 and later earned a teaching degree from Beaver College, playing golf all the while. In the early 1940s, Porter won a number of Philadelphia junior and amateur golf championships, and in 1946 she captured the first of her three Pennsylvania Women's Amateur Championships. Her accomplishments include: the Philadelphia Junior Amateur at age 12; Philadelphia Junior Champ in 1939, 1940, and 1941; Western Amateur Champ in 1943, 1944, and 1967; U.S.G.A. Amateur Champ in 1949; on the U.S. Curtis Cup Team from 1950-1966; Philadelphia Amateur Champ 1946, 1956, 1962, 1969, 1970, 1973; the Philadelphia G.A. Silver Cross Champ 1972-73; and U.S. Golf Association Senior Champ in 1977, 1980, 1981.
Dorothy Germain Porter taught at Upper Darby High School and Ursinus College.
