Art attended Garrettford Elementary School and Upper Darby Junior High. At UDHS he was president of the National Honor Society and Choral Club, in the A Cappella Choir and all school show, treasurer of the Student Council, an editor of the Acorn, and on the honor roll. Art was also co-captain of the track team that won the District 1 championship and a member of the Eastern Regional champion soccer team. For eleven years Art was the reunion chair for his class. Art continued to run track and play soccer at UPenn Wharton where he also got his Master’s. He was president of his class (1960) for twenty-five years organizing reunions, etc. UPenn awarded him the Alumni Award of Merit in 2000. He has also been a Master Penn Relay official for 48 years receiving the Herman Mancini award for the Best Relay Official in 2013. Art worked for Bell of PA., Bell Labs, AT&T for 23 years and retired as Regional Manager of their Consumer Product Division. He then joined Independence Blue Cross serving as Vice President of customer service. In 1988 he joined the Lenfest Group, owners of Suburban Cable TV, where he became president in 1989. In 1991 Art was asked to start a new company to provide telemarketing services to the Cable industry. Art founded TeleSTAR Marketing and grew the company to 350 locations. He was awarded the TEL Pro Award for contributions to the industry. As a community leader Art served on the board of the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine for 20 years, the board of Widener’s School of Business, the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc, Junior Achievement and the Red Cross. With former Mayor Ed Rendell, Art founded Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Celebration in 1998.
