Greg Lingo
Class of 1990
Year of Induction - 2021
Greg Lingo grew up in the Beverly Hills section of Upper Darby attending Bywood, Highland Park and Beverly Hills. He was the youngest of three boys. His older brothers Drew (‘84) and Doug (‘87) preceded him at UDHS. While at UDHS Greg was a three sport captain in football, basketball and baseball which has become the exception rather than the rule in the current age. He also was a member of the student council. Greg had strong interests in science in high school citing Mr. Maxwell’s physics class as his favorite followed by European and American literature taught by Mr. Brobst and Dr. Baughan respectively.
Greg continued his education at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering in May, 1994. He also was awarded several scholarships along the way: the Cornell Tradition Fellowship and the Joseph Barrett and Richard Hadfield Memorial Scholarships (UDHS). He played Varsity Baseball and Football at Cornell and was inducted into the Sphinx Head Senior Honor Society. Greg continued his education at
Villanova University receiving a Masters of Business Administration, Marketing in 2000.
Greg started his first business in 7th grade. A serial entrepreneur, he has started over 75 partnerships and companies since then, focusing on real estate development, financial services, and entertainment. His company, Rockwell Custom Homes, is located in Media, PA.
A finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur and Smart CEO Magazine CEO of the Year, Greg is most proud of his 2016 Service to Children Award presented by The Upper Darby School District. He has also supported a scholarship at Upper Darby High School given every year since 1998.
For something completely different, Greg wrote and produced his first feature film in 2021 for Showtime, entitled Last Call. Set in fictitious “Darby Heights”, this comedy follows Mick who realizes as he is escaping the neighborhood, he runs into himself.
Greg is married to his wife, Valerie, whom he met as a teenager although she did not go to Upper Darby. They have 3 daughters including twins who attend Greg’s alma mater, Cornell.
