Our Mission
To provide safe and reliable transportation services in a fiscally responsible manner.
Department Overview
Studies done by The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveal that the school bus is the safest vehicle on the road. The Upper Darby School District transportation department owns and maintains a fleet of 131 school buses, used to transport nearly 7,000 students to over 160 schools in 5 counties. When fully staffed, the department employs 130 bus drivers and 60 bus assistants. In addition to the school bus fleet, the Transportation Supervisor also oversees the management of records and compliance of 40 Facilities, Maintenance, Food Service and Public Safety vehicles.
Bus schedules are designed by the transportation office during the summer. As student ridership changes throughout the school year, bus schedules are modified and adjusted in order to maintain an efficient transportation system. All bus routes are subject to change to meet the needs of all our student riders.
